Strategic Alliance

Stay tuned for interesting developments with Vision Baptist’s Youth. Hopefully we’ll be entering a mutually beneficial partnership with Trent Cornwell within a couple of weeks.
For now, we’re kind of in the Strategy Development stage, but that’ll soon be past, and we’ll begin the Partner Assessment step.
Wonder what this is all about? Objective 412.

State of the Union

Bro. Stephen Cofield gave the “State of the Youth-Group” speech last night. His vision for the teens in our church hearkens back to a time when the major force behind national revivals started in the hearts of a few young folk.
I believe it will work. I know that we can be everything that those generations [...]

People of the Book?

2 Chronicles 30:5 So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the passover unto the LORD God of Israel at Jerusalem: for they had not done it of a long time in such sort as it was written.
How long has it [...]

Afterburn (Line in the sand)

All day I’ve been unable to escape the thought, “Is this appealing to the flesh or the spirit?”
Is it bad that I sometimes wish Pastor Blackstock would just tickle our ears instead of actually preach something that forces me to choose between getting closer to God or not?
I think I’ll do an update this coming [...]

Line in the sand.

Ambidexterity means having the ability to use both your left and right hands equally well.
Ambiguous means, “That might be right, or it might be wrong. I can’t tell for sure.”
The “ambi-” part is what I want you to see. That’s the part that means something could go in different directions. One way or the other.
Pastor [...]

Guest star: Briana

Miss Briana Williams joined our Church Planting class today. It’s great to see her desire to learn so that she can serve God well.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that Bro. Tony Howeth taught the class. Why is that bad, you wonder? Because he’s hard on me. He’s all about challenges, and I [...]

Missionaries give to Missions!

Here’s an example of something that you probably don’t hear about often:
A missionary friend of mine just sold an extra engine he had around the house while on furlough. He called me tonight and asked if I knew any missionaries that needed a little financial boost.
After consulting with Pastor Blackstock, I suggested Ron Link. He’s [...]

Parting is such sweet sorrow.

This is always a tough time for me. I’ve built some relationships with the missionaries that were at church this week, and now they’re gone. I knew it was gonna happen, but it’s still hard on me.
Bro. Curtis Couch came in tonight. He’s about 12 hours south of Arequipa, Peru. That puts him about 25 [...]

Mission: Impressive

Yesterday I said that I’d mention the other missionaries we’ve seen this week. I can’t omit David Gardner, Scion of House Gardner, circuit-riding missionary to the mountain villages of Peru.
Our “That’s a blessing!” co-laborer, David Gates, who will be turning Egypt upside down in a few months, moderated a chapel service with the other missionaries [...]

You’ll miss it when it’s gone.

We’re closing in on the end of our Missions Conference, and I’m gonna miss it when it’s gone. We’ve made some great friends with several of the visiting missionaries:
The Stover family are going to Peru. The Brandon family are reaching the Jewish people of New York. Chris and Amy Yetzer have just begun raising support [...]
